Introduction
On June 26, 2025, Marugame Udon, the famous Japanese udon chain, finally opened its first branch in the Middle East—right here in Dubai.
As a Japanese living in Dubai, I was really excited to try it out. Many Japanese expats, tourists, and even locals were curious whether the taste would be just like back home in Japan.
In this review, I’ll share my personal experience—what the restaurant looks like, what I ordered, actual prices, and some insider details I learned directly from the staff.
Menu & Prices at Marugame Udon Dubai

👉 Prices are slightly higher than in Japan, but honestly, being able to eat freshly made udon in Dubai makes it completely worth it.
Tempura Menu
- Shrimp Tempura: 10 AED (~$2.70 USD)
- Squid Tempura: 9 AED (~$2.50 USD)
- Sweet Potato Tempura: 7 AED (~$1.90 USD)
- Fried Chicken (Karaage): 6 AED (~$1.60 USD)
Just like in Japan, you can pick your favorite tempura from the counter to go with your udon.
Hot or Cold Udon Options
At Marugame Udon in Dubai, you can choose between hot or cold udon.
Most menu items are served hot, but several dishes are also available as cold udon, which is perfect for Dubai’s warm climate.
I personally tried the cold udon, and it was incredibly refreshing—just like how we enjoy it in Japan during the summer.
Taste & Experience
When I took my first bite, I was honestly surprised—it tasted exactly like Japan.
The noodles were chewy, the broth had real depth, and the tempura was crispy.
I chose cold udon with tempura, which felt perfect for Dubai’s hot climate.
It really reminded me of summer days in Japan.
Insider Info
Some of the staff are Japanese, and even the non-Japanese staff trained in Japan before coming here.
They also import many ingredients directly from Japan, which explains why the taste is so authentic.
Staff even told me that another Marugame Udon branch might open in Dubai soon.

As a Japanese living in Dubai, I can confidently say this Marugame Udon is just like eating back home in Japan.
The taste and quality are the same, the prices are fair, and the experience brought me a little piece of home.
